Cabinets
Painted with Epoxy
Completed: 12/09/07
Painted Inside
and Outside
Original Color: Mint Green
New Colors: Morning Fog
Our goal was to
repaint both the inside and outside of the existing cabinets while
maintaining full and continuous operation of the water testing lab.
Work was performed in stages during a week in early December.
Approximately
65 drawers were prepped and painted in a remote area the first two days.
Where possible, handles were removed. Plastic rollers on the drawers were
masked to prevent sticking.
Internal corners were first "spotted" with an HVLP system prior to
electrostatic painting.
Stationary cabinets in the lab itself were painted in two stages to allow
required water testing to continue
utilizing cabinets not currently being painted. Test equipment was moved
from one set of cabinetry to another
as work progressed. Where possible, handles were removed.
Drawer tracks were also removed to allow satisfactory
paint coverage behind them. Swinging doors were left in place. As
was done with the drawers, all internal
corners were first "spotted" with an HVLP system prior to
electrostatic painting.
Hanging wall cabinets with sliding glass doors were taken down and disassembled
for painting.
All cabinets were allowed to dry for a day before the component parts were
reassembled.
These pictures show the cabinetry before repainting.
