THE SECRET OF
ELECTROSTATIC PAINTING

Electrostatic painting is based on the
basic law of electricity that opposites attract.

In a nutshell, here’s how it works.  Electrostatic technology charges and atomizes paint particles so they are attracted to a grounded piece of metal.  In the Ransburg No. 2 Handgun, a high voltage electrode located at the front of the gun charges a rotary atomizer so that paint is atomized and negatively charged as it passes.  An electrostatic field is created between the front of the gun and the grounded work piece with the atomized particles remaining concentrated within it.

Further atomization is achieved as the charged particles repel each other, forming a fine cloud in route to the work piece; thus insuring a smooth, even coating.  The electrostatic forces draw the atomized particles so strongly that the paint appears to "wrap around" corners and into recessed areas.

And very importantly, the strong electrostatic attraction means there is no overspray, fogging, or drift; as there would be with conventional spray guns.  It's amazingly neat and clean.
