The following tests have been performed and recorded in our laboratories using ASTM test method D1308. A fully cured Epoxy Glaze
film was subjected to the listed items.
LILLY-PERFECTION
AIR DRIED EPOXY GLAZE ENAMEL, These tests were run by
Coatings Research Group, Inc. The 9100 Series Baking Enamel is described Tests were run on light
gauge steel and on heavy gauge steel panels. The Baking Enamel was
already The purpose was to see if
the Perfection Epoxy Glaze Two-Package Catalyzed Finish met or was
Perfection Air Dry Epoxy Glaze is superior to Baked Enamel at 300 deg. F for 30 minutes in every respect. These tests were run after both finishes had cured on the panels for more than 7 days. Therefore, the requirement that Perfection Epoxy Glaze must be as good as a baked enamel has been met since these tests show Perfection Epoxy Glaze to be superior to Baked Enamel #9100 Series. Performance Evaluations of Lilly Perfection Futurac Catalyzed Acrylic Urethane All test results listed below were preformed at room temperature on steel panels that had been primed with #2595 Epoxy Primer at 1 mil dry film thickness and finished with Lilly Perfection Futurac Catalyzed Acrylic Urethane at 2 mils dry file thickness. All panels were then cured for 7 days. 1. Pencil Hardness: ASTM D 3363.
Dry film after 7 day cure is 2H.
2. Abrasion: ASTM D 4060.
Passes most severe Taber abrasion test, CS-17.
3. Adhesion: ASTM D 3359.
Passes crosshatch adhesion test.
Denotes excellent adhesion to properly prepared surfaces.
4. Impact Flexibility: ASTM D 2794.
Direct impact, 25 lbs.
Impact resistance is very good.
5. Fluid and Chemical Resistance: ASTM D 1308
Exposures were for 3 minutes.
Acid Resistance: 5% hydrochloric 2H. Very Good.
Alkaline Resistance: 5% sodium hydroxide 1H. Good.
Water Resistance: 2H. Excellent.
Brake Fluid Resistance: 2H. Dulled gloss. Good.
Fuel Resistance:; 100% gasoline - 2H. Excellent.
Oil Resistance: Excellent.
6. Humidity: ASTM D 4585-87
No failures after 1,000 hours exposure. Excellent.
7. Salt Spray (Fog): ASTM B 117-73
Passes 1,000 hour exposure requirements.
8. Accelerated Weathering: ASTM G 53-88
After 500 hours of ultraviolet exposure, high gloss panels lost 9% and Semi-gloss, 29%.
Test requires loss of gloss not to exceed 50%. Retention is excellent.
